accountable publishing
Editorial and research standards
GEOExtension.com is a Clearmud product. We publish practical Generative Engine Optimization guidance for business owners and the people who implement it. These are the standards we use to keep that guidance useful, honest, and correctable.

How do we choose and verify sources?
We prefer primary sources: provider documentation, standards bodies, peer-reviewed research, public datasets, and first-party product measurements. Material statistics should name and link their source. We do not publish a number when we cannot trace it to a reviewable source.
What do industry recommendations mean?
Industry guides contain representative buyer prompts created for research and testing; they are not claimed to be private search-query logs. Directory and review-platform lists identify sources worth maintaining because they can corroborate business facts. Unless a page publishes a dated probe sample, those lists are not claims that every AI provider cited every source in a controlled test.
Do we use AI assistance?
We may use AI-assisted workflows for research organization, drafting, and quality checks. Clearmud is responsible for the pages it publishes. Source links, product behavior, dates, and material claims must be checked before publication; AI output alone is not treated as evidence.
How do we handle high-stakes subjects?
Healthcare, legal, and financial guides explain discoverability and publishing structure—not medical, legal, or investment advice. We avoid outcome promises and ask businesses to have qualified professionals review subject-matter claims before publishing them on their own sites.
How are pages reviewed and updated?
Visible update dates change only after a meaningful content or methodology review. Provider behavior and crawler documentation can change, so product-specific claims are rechecked against current primary documentation. We do not refresh dates merely to make a page appear newer.
How can I report a correction?
Email team@clearmud.ai with the page URL, the statement at issue, and a primary source when available. We review substantive corrections and update the page when the evidence supports a change.
GEOExtension is made by Clearmud. Product scoring is documented separately in our public methodology.
